Summertime in the Smoky Mountains is a beautiful sight! The mountains look alive; the flowers are in full bloom and the nights are unforgettable. You can see flowers all throughout the Smokies during the summer months. If you’re hiking the trails, you’re likely to find Smoky Mountain wildflowers littered throughout the entire park! The National Park service releases a Smoky Mountain wildflower guide for hikers and visitors to identify various flowers on their travels. Here are five of the most beautiful flowers in the Smokies and where to find them!
- White Trillium
White trillium can be found right outside our beautiful Smoky Mountain Cabins! This particular flower can be found all throughout the park at mid-low elevations. These early spring flowers are beautiful and easily found. Keep your eyes peeled for them around the park or from the view of your porch!

- Wild Geranium
The Wild Geranium has five petals and resembles a lilac/purple color. This flower can be found all over the park, primarily in lower elevations. These flowers are the perfect hint that spring and summer have arrived in the Smoky Mountains. Be sure to snap a picture of these beauties!

- Flame Azalea
If you’re traveling in high elevations in June and July, you are likely to see the beautiful Flame Azalea. This fiery flower is known for it’s red and orange hints of color and triangular petal shape.

- Wild Strawberry
This spring flower is found throughout the park with small white flowers. During the later months, the wild strawberry grows fruit! But beware, the wild strawberry is a bear’s favorite food! This plant is low growing and found in various areas of the park.

- Vasey’s Trillium
This dark red flower is the latest blooming trillium in the park. This flower has three petals, sepals and petals. It is easily recognizable and found in the lower-mid elevations.
