3 Hidden Gems in the Smoky Mountains
In the Smoky Mountains, you will find some of the most beautiful vistas in the southeast. While the area is best known for beautiful views and majestic mountains, you can also find a number of interesting places that are a bit off the beaten path. Following are a few of our favorite hidden gems, and we hope you enjoy visiting these great places the next time you’re in town!
Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail
The Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail is a one-way loop that runs for a whopping 8 miles off of Cherokee Orchard Road in Gatlinburg. The road is rather narrow, but there are several spots along it where you can park your car off to the side and take in the gorgeous scenery. Additionally, there are several historic homesteads located along the trail, some of them dating from the late 18th century! Each house holds a rich history, and the fact that they’re still standing today is fascinating to think about. These historic homesteads are easy to find, and they’re quite the sight to behold.
Take a Trip to the Library
The library isn’t the first thing that comes to mind when people envision a getaway in the Smoky Mountains, but that’s just because they’ve never visited the Anna Porter Public Library. This convenient facility not only has computer and internet access, but it also offers audio and video books that you can experience if reading doesn’t happen to be your thing. However, if you do like to read, you’ll find that you can get lost for hours in the library’s warm and inviting atmosphere. The selection of their fiction pieces ranges from romance to thriller, surrealism to science fiction. If you’re into more concrete reading material, there are plenty of options in the non-fiction sections, including philosophy, psychology, science, and religion. Whatever your cup of tea is, there’s a piece of literature for you at the Anna Porter Public Library.
Enjoy the Comfort of Wears Valley Cabins
There’s a reason why Wears Valley Cabins are so widely praised. While the area provides lush natural enjoyment, there’s no reason why you can’t enjoy some quality time indoors with a loved one. Cabins in Wears Valley offer great comfort in any season, especially in the winter, when glowing fires and warm cocoa are an absolute necessity. Wears Valley cabins allow you to get within close proximity to breathtaking natural wonders, while remaining safe and warm.
